Angélica Escoto is a multidisciplinary artist. She recently won the SD Art Prize 2022 for her outstanding creative work and contributions to the Tijuana-San Diego border region. Her autobiographical, conceptual, documentary and archival works structure narratives with a cinematographic twist that speak of origin, existence and identity.
She studied journalism in Mexico City at Carlos Septién García School of Journalism. She worked as an editor in several regional newspapers in the Mexican Republic. Her work has been published and exhibited in newspapers and magazines in Spain, France, Germany, the United States, Argentina, Venezuela and Mexico.

Honorable mention in Spain, Nexofoto 2016 Ibero-American contemporary photography contest, honorable mention at the XV Northwest Visual Arts Biennial, Mexico. Honorable mention in the 5th. Her work is in the collection of the Tijuana Cecut Cultural Center, Mexico and other private collections.
