Astrid Gonzales is a filmmaker and video artist from Encinitas, CA. Astrid attended UC Berkeley and received her B.A. in Ethnic Studies & Film Studies ('19) and a Film Production Certificate from the UCLA Theater Film & Television Film Production program. As a first-generation Xicana storyteller, Astrid aims to create video art that investigates memory, culture, and the Nahuatl language through video documentation and installation. Astrid's work aims to initiate meaningful conversations around displacement, memory, and grief to cultivate empathy and healing.
