I am so honored to get this William Male Foundation funding towards my future artistic endeavors! I'm going to graduate soon from Mission Bay High School's International Baccalaureate Program. As a trombonist in the music program, I was fortunate enough to go to New Orleans and Japan to learn and play the roots of jazz. I have danced my whole life including ballet at the San Diego Civic Center for 5 years with California Ballet. There, I learned tap and jazz, too. While on tour, I discovered I can tap dance while playing my trombone, hence earning the name 'Bonertapper' by peers. This summer, I am using the William Male Foundation Grant to go to Cuernavaca, Mexico where I will study Latin American dance and art, and practice my Spanish by staying with a Mexican family. I look forward to pursuing even more instrumental, vocal, or theatrical music, or pursuing more dance in my upcoming years at UC San Diego, majoring in Structural Engineering, and hopefully minoring in music, dance or theater.
