Jenna Ann MacGillis is an interdisciplinary artist based in San Diego. Jenna Ann’s interdisciplinary approach to storytelling explores performance, installation, puppetry, mask making, music, movement, sculpture, and expedition-based research. She earned an MA in Arts and Leadership at the New College of California. From 2008 through 2015 she was a resident artist at Space4Art located in East Village SD.
After attending The Body of Water Playwright Residency in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Jenna Ann launched her latest project, Bodies of Water: Voices of the Estuary, an onsite performance planned for Spring 2020. Bodies of Water is a multi-disciplinary collaboration inspired by conversations and interactions with the diverse community of the Tijuana River National Estuarine Research Reserve.
With support from the William Male Foundation, Jenna Ann is excited to pursue this project under the mentorship of a dramaturge. She looks forward to exploring the roles performance can play in communities that are facing current ecological challenges head on.
